Hennepin Avenue is under construction
Hello friends of Phoenix Theater! Hennepin Ave directly in front of Phoenix is scheduled to be under construction for the entire spring, summer, and fall of 2024. And, just in case that’s not enough, another chunk of it will be under construction next year. We’ll do our best to keep this page up to date with current conditions and what to expect. Bus routes that normally stop in front of Phoenix have also been re-routed.
We will be open for public and private events throughout the construction!
Current Road Conditions
Hennepin Avenue is currently closed to through traffic from 26th St through Lake St. It is currently possible to travel south on Hennepin as far as 28th St and north on Hennepin starting at 26th St. The street directly in front of Phoenix Theater is completely inaccessible to traffic, including drop-offs. We recommend driving along Lyndale, then turning west on 26th St toward the theater.
Parking Recommendations
Parking is never easy, but now it’s even tougher. There is no parking along Hennepin Ave, nor on 26th St for a block in either direction. Best chance of finding parking is on the side streets parallel to Hennepin Ave. We are currently in discussions with our neighbor businesses who have off-street parking. Hopefully, we’ll get permission from them to share their lots soon.
Loading In and Out for producers
While we usually recommend loading in through our main doors (no stairs, wider doors, straighter path), that’s not possible at the moment without a long walk. While the construction is ongoing, you’re better off pulling into the alley between 26th and 27th and loading through the back.
